Here is a Texas Country music video remembering Old Austin, Texas 1965-1995. Everything you remember from the good old days in Austin, Texas including NightHawk steaks, the Chief Drive-in, Aqua Fest, Butter Krust Bakery, Cactus Pryor, Scarbroughs and more. Robert Kauffman moved to Austin in 1971 and visited here many times before that to see family and he remembers most of these things. Life was certainly simpler back then, for sure!
While we are on the nostalgia train, here is a link to old maps of Austin back to its origin: Austin Maps. You can see the original layout of Austin which is roughly the area between the Colorado River (now Lady Bird Lake, but used to be Town Lake), IH-35 (used to be East Avenue), West Avenue (still the same name), and 15th Street (used to be North Avenue)….compromising approximately 1 square mile.
