New lanes being considered for MoPac Boulevard could speed up travel through South Austin in the coming years. Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority engineers are working on an estimated $15 million plan that would add lanes to a portion of MoPac (Loop 1) between Barton Skyway and Capital of Texas Highway (Loop 360). According to preliminary estimates, the lanes could result in travel time savings of 10 to 15 minutes for a trip from 35th Street to Loop 360.
