The #1 driver of the economy of most cities is job growth. Austin added 37,800 net new jobs, growth of 3.5%, in the 12 months ending in December, making Austin the 2nd fastest growing major metro. Austin's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate is 2.6%, down from 2.7% in November.
