“If you're going through hell, keep going.” - Winston Churchill.
Or, in the words of the Rodney Atkins song:
“If you're going through Hell
Keep on going, don't slow down
If you're scared, don't show it
You might get out
Before the devil even knows you're there”
Maybe we aren’t in hell right now, but to many of us I’m sure it feels like it. Maybe more like a Twilight Zone episode. Regardless, the whole world is going through something unlike we’ve ever seen before. I’m an eternal optimist, a “glass half full” person who looks for the bright side of everything. I’m optimistic the Hydroxychloroquine treatment tried by hundreds of people infected and recently approved by the FDA will be the silver bullet to turn the tide on this vicious disease. I have an Austin friend who got the virus a couple of weeks ago and was about to be put on a ventilator. The doctor put her on hydroxychloroquine instead and she was released from the hospital yesterday! There is another treatment where they take antibodies from those who have recovered and inject them into those that have it that also shows promise. And, lots of people are working on a vaccine which seems to be on a fast-track. So, I’m hopeful the virus begins to lose the war and we can get back to a “normal” life soon - whatever that will look like in the future.
On Facebook, founder Mark Zuckerberg posted “Never Lost,” a poignant film that splices together moving scenes of a world ravaged but not destroyed during the epidemic, set to a stirring spoken word track by British poet Kate Tempest. I hope you enjoy this short, but very moving video: We’re Never Lost if we Can Find Each Other
I hope you or your family haven’t been affected physically by the virus and your finances weather the storm. I wish you the very best. We will get through this...we always survive.
