Charles Heimsath has been tracking conditions in all sectors of the Austin area's real estate market for three decades. But he says the results of his latest apartment market survey caught even him by surprise. Expecting to see apartment rents level off in the Austin region, Heimsath instead found that between December and June, average rents jumped by their highest percentage ever in the time he's been tracking the market, which started in the early 1990s.
